What to do today?

Today we are mostly occupied by keeping warm. We had a cold night here in Kansas and the temperature has not gone above 44 degrees today with winds at 90 mph. Well, not quite, but it sure feels like it. I think it feels 29 out there with the wind chill. So what does one do on such a day? Well, we stay in and keep Neal warm mostly.

I made a large (for me) lunch with meatloaf, broccoli/rice/cheese side dish and fruit with cottage cheese for dessert, one of our favorites. It all tasted really good as we are tired of eating out.

Then I had some chocolate chips that needed to be used up, so I made my famous chocolate chip cookies. They really turned out well and even though a convection oven doesn't heat up like a gas oven does, it still releases some heat through the fan.

Now I think we are going to watch the Nationwide race. Tomorrow is another cold day, then the warm up starts.

Till next time. . .

40 is good. I don't think we got above 20 all day. Everything is coated in ice. I went out a couple of times to get some photos and it was a slippery experience:-) We listened to all the weather and road reports this morning and even called the Sheriffs dept in Scott City. Not good. Wes finally went out and drove about 2 miles on the highway, came back and said "we're not going anywhere". So we cancelled our hotel room in Garden City and let a couple of friends know that we wouldn't be there and just stayed in today. Kind of nice sometimes:-) I've been doing some cleaning and we've watched a couple of movies. We thought we might try to make it to Garden City tomorrow morning, but I don't think that is going to happen either. It would be too early for much melting.

Glad you are warm and dry. See you Tuesday, weather permitting.

Yeh, well, it might be Wednesday now looking at the forecast. Turn up the heat, will ya? Heh heh. We're doing fine. Our plan was to move to Dodge City tomorrow, but think we are staying here instead.

Sure hope you don't let this unusual weather sour you on visiting Kansas again. We generally have beautiful fall weather. We are free most of this week, so whenever you show up is fine.

Not a chance, Jan. The HDT'ers just finished up a rally here at the fairgrounds and we have had fun watching the really big trucks run around here. Getting some laundry done today while it is above freezing. Heh heh.
