Things are getting interesting!

We visited with Mom for a couple days after the cardiology appointment. This year we couldn't get our internist's appointments and the cardiologist the same week, so we had time in between.  That is why we went to Warsaw to see Mom and to check on the house. On Sunday I went to church with Mom and Nita. I don't get a chance to do that often, but it is a real treat when I do.

Later on Sunday we headed back south and went to Summit Lake State Park, north of New Castle, and near Mooreland where we used to live. Both the kids worked at this park during the summers when they were in college. It was a good place for them to work.

We got our bloodwork done on Monday and the doctor's appointment done on Tuesday. I even saw my dermatologist and we checked in with our financial advisor. We had dinner with some friends on Tuesday as well. All is good and we left there on Wednesday and headed back to Goshen. We parked in the drive at the house and emptied the refrigerator of the motorhome so we could leave it at our service facility to have them work on the jack. When we got there, they had me run the jacks and there is one that is broken. So they are keeping Phaeton Place and plan on checking that out. The problem is that those jacks are no longer made and the company is out of business, so they will probably try and fix that jack. We have been looking at alternative systems just in case that doesn't work out.

Once we got the motorhome taken care of we went back to the house and packed. We were flying to Florida the next day so that we could take care of Brynlee while Brandon and Megan go to Montego Bay, Jamaica, for a week. Wish I could have earned stuff like that when I was working. But sadly, teachers rarely even get a raise.

Fall fun!

The fall routine in full swing.

We have left northern Indiana and are now in east central Indiana at Summit Lake State Park. We left Goshen last Friday and spent two nights at the county fairgrounds in Warsaw, Indiana. Got in some time visiting with Dale's family before our 6-7 week trek to the Rio Grande Valley in extreme south Texas.

Monday started off with a visit to the vampires in New Castle for blood draws for both of us in preparation for our annual check ups with our internist. Duchess the traveling Scottie got to see her vet Monday also. Monday evening was a play date for Duchess with Baxter, Blanche and Rudy at Dave and Mark's place in Muncie. Dave fixed a very nice taco salad for dinner and we enjoyed seeing them again and taking a tour of their new motorhome. I must admit that the fit, finish and equipment on their Jayco Precept impressed us. Not bad at all for a 33 foot class A.

Tuesday was haircuts for both of us and our annual exams in the afternoon, which went as expected with no major surprises. We then stopped off to see Doris, a retired teacher colleague of Dale's to have the Christmas card Dale received from relatives in Germany translated.

Today is a day to be spent in Indianapolis, I have a fall check up with my cardiologist at IU downtown this morning and Dale has her 6 month post surgery visit with her back surgeon at St. Vincent's on the north side. Tomorrow is the last doctor's appointment with Dale's dermatologist in Muncie. Friday we travel about 100 miles over to St Paris Ohio to see friends Tab and Deanna for the weekend.

On the move, well sort of.

Left Warsaw Indiana after visiting Dale's family for two nights, we departed the fairgrounds this morning at 9:15 and arrived at Summit Lake State Park close to New Castle Indiana at 12 noon.  Summit Lake has been upgraded to supply 50amp power also, so we're back since we can run both of our AC/heatpumps without worrying about low voltage.  We are located near the small town we lived in for over 30 years and we return each spring and fall for various medical appointments, hair, veterinarian, broker and the like. Tomorrow it all kicks off with a early morning visit to the local vampires at the New Castle Clinic, after 3 rather full days we'll be done. We'll finish up our visit with  dinner and a play date for Duchess in Muncie at Dave and Mark's with Baxter a fellow Scottie. Thursday morning we will have 5 days to cover the 600+ miles to Charlottesville VA to visit Jocelyn, Tom, Ronan and Aenea for a week. So begins our trek to Mission Texas for the winter.

Rally Time at Camp Pull-Tab!

This is the time of year when we normally put on a rally at the Elkhart Campground. It has been a great success and year after year we always had more rigs coming. We opted not to do it this year. We always billed it as the "first campout of the season" and once our grandson was born in April, it made it harder for us to keep it the same weekend. We would much rather spend as much time as we like with Ronan and his parents.

SO, after we left Virginina, we opted to pass through Ohio and celebrate the time with two of our favorite people, Tab and Deanna. They always have the welcome mat out and we can always count on two other things as well. . . food (this time prepared by Tab and Deanna) and ICE CREAM! They took us to Springfield to the Marble Slab Creamery. Boy was that good! Thanks to two very special people. A very special little "mini rally."

From there, it was back to Summit Lake Campground in our old stompin' grounds. Two of my colleagues retired, so I wanted to attend their celebration and wish them well. It was great fun and we shared a lot of laughs. I got to see many teachers I once saw every day. We also got another invite to join some former neighbors at Texas Roadhouse in Muncie. What fun that was. We haven't seen these friends just to sit and talk for years. When we left the Roadhouse, we went to Richard's Restaurant and enjoyed coffee and just talked till the restaurant closed.

On Sunday we visited with friends Dave, Mark and Joyce and had dinner. Dave fixed up a chicken pot pie (one of my favorites) along with a few other goodies including fresh cookies. Terrific! I once again got my "black Scottie" fix with their Baxter, now seven months old. He is such a cutie. But I also spent some time at the camp visiting with two demure Scottie lassies. I saw them soon after they arrived and had to go over to pet them. Imagine my surprise when the dogs' owner turned out to be a woman who used to work at my school. I knew she had Scotties and I often wondered about them when we were in the area.

We have now been in Goshen at the fairgrounds since last Monday. It has been a busy week because I had a dental appointment and we had several "landlord" items to take care of. We have a wedding in the family next weekend and I wanted a new dress for that. I was able to find what I wanted, plus the shoes as well. So I am all set.

Here at the fairgrounds, the Holiday Rambler Pusher rally has just ended and now the Monaco rally is starting. They have 13 rallies here at the fairgrounds, plus the big fair in July. At least there are a lot of people around. We are not at the Elkhart Campground just yet, because two bridges we could cross to get there are all torn up. Traffic is a bit of a bear so we came here instead. When we get back from Florida in July, we will be at the Elkhart Campground, however, because of the rally schedule here.
