Life in the Valley

Well, when it's 100* outside, we don't do a whole lot, which is about as much as we usually do anyway. Hah! We have had some warm days this week and today it is 100* in the shade. The sun is super hot, so we certainly don't go out in it too much. I was just out and took the golf cart down to check the mail and there is nary a soul outside. I suppose there might be some in the pool, but I didn't look. As soon as the sun starts its path down in the sky, however, it starts to cool off; and believe it or not by 6:30 in the evening, it actually is cool. Last night when we went to the pool Terry even wore a sweatshirt. The temps get into the 60's during the nighttime hours, so it is very comfortable mornings and evenings. Kind of makes up for the hot afternoons.

We got another estimate on our canopy and it looks like it won't be happening this year. The commercial contractors want what we think is way too much. Perhaps if we moved Phaeton Place off the lot and hid her when they come to talk, we might have better luck! I think she influences what they ask.

We still have one sick dog. Neal has recuperated from his surgery to remove the rock and plastic from his stomach and intestine, but Bailey is battling heart disease. He has an enlarged heart and fluid buildup, so I'm guessing that is congestive heart failure. He is on meds, but some days won't take them. I don't force them on him. Today is the last day of his strong antibiotic to clear his lungs, so hopefully he will feel better. He occasionally takes walks with Mom, but they have greatly reduced the area they walk because he can't handle it. I don't encourage either dog to go out in this heat. We will see what the dogs' regular vet in Indiana has to say when they see him in April.

Till next time. . .

At least the forecast shows lower temps for you after tonight......relatively speaking. Hopefully Bailey will be able to get out more.

Take care.

Thanks, Silverback! Yeh, it's supposed to be in the 70's tomorrow. A nice respite from the heat of today. Although we did enjoy a nice dip in the pool this evening. It is about 84* now.

Wish I was still there! I can do a pool in 100* heat :)

Tell Terry I had a hot beef sandwich, Manhatten style from Luxe Cafe in Goshen last night. I think that's what he had when I went there with you guys in 2008.

Stay cool - unless it's evening, then stay warm :)

100° I'll trade you, it got down to 8° last night here in Ft Wayne Indiana....
It's supposed to be in the 50s tomorrow.
Crazy weather, uh?

Well, Chris, I hear ya. Even at 100 degrees here you could get comfortable if you could find shade. Not a problem since Mom and Dad have an awning. Hopefully we will get ours up soon. And it always cools down after the sun starts going down.
