Sea Day #2

 August 1, 2024

Today is a sea day, meaning we are cruising to our next destination. We left Greenock, Scotland, last evening and are still sailing on to Invergorton.

We still are enjoying sunny or partly cloudy days with no rain. We had a few sprinkles in Dublin as we were re-boarding our bus for the port. But other than that, our days have been dry and party sunny. I have had to layer my sweater/jacket, but I have managed to stay warm.

Today Sharon, Pam and I went to the Allegro Dining Room for a sit-down breakfast. Sharon and I have been getting room service (egg/cheese/ham muffins) every morning when we have excursions, so we did something classier this morning. Afterwards we went to a presentation on two of our upcoming ports and then had a leisurely rest at one of the bars. We even spent a little time outside at the railing watching the world go by.

We joined back up with our friends and went to the Bingo room and bought cards for the upcoming bingo game. None of us won anything. We did note, however, that everyone who won (one guy won THREE times) were using the digital bingo cards on IPads that cost a minimum of $79. Well. . . That’s it. No more bingo for me. We only played 4 games anyway and bingo is not my favorite!

We are back in our rooms to put our feet up and at 2 we plan to go grab a snack. After that we will go to a second presentation on the last two stops we are making. We do get some ideas on what to expect.

Sharon and I got out at 2 and went to the International Cafe and had a snack. We had such a big breakfast, neither of us wanted much till supper. We skipped lunch  and had this snack. After that we went to the presentation which was not at all what we thought it would be, but we suffered through it anyway. Then we went back to the room and enjoyed the balcony until time for dinner.

We met our friends for dinner. I had the Beef Wellington, which I had never had. It was delicious and tasted similarly to the roast tenderloin Brandon fixes on his green egg. Wonderful! Today was Carol’s birthday, and our server and host brought her a specialty cake and we all sang Happy Birthday to her. She was delighted.

The program for this evening was a musician singing Paul McCartney songs. He was very good and sang our favorites. He was an exceptional pianist.

We are now in our room and in bed. Tomorrow’s excursion is to Invergordon, where we board a bus and go seeking Nessie in Loch Ness. Also on the agenda is to visit the Cullodon Battlefield. It was the site of the Jacobite rebellion between the Scottish clans and the British troops. England sought to end all clan activity and was successful in wiping out many clans. They equate this battle to our Gettysburg.

Till next time. . .
